HP announced on Monday that it continues to lead in several key segments of the server and storage market in Asia Pacific and Japan in Q1 2007.


According to a release, HP maintained the No.1 position in x86 server shipments in the first quarter of 2007 (its 20th consecutive quarter since Q2 2002) securing 29.6 percent of market share. Additionally, HP also secured the No.1 position in x86 blade server factory revenues and units shipped in Q1 2007 for the Asia Pacific region. HP also led in the total disk storage systems capacity (in terabytes) shipped with a market share of 21.4 percent according to the market data released by IDC.

In CYQ1, 2007, HP maintained its lead in key server segments capturing 28.8 percent share of Windows servers, 27.8 percent of Linux servers and 75.7 percent of EPIC (Itanium) servers sold in Asia Pacific based on factory revenue. The company tied for No. 1 position in Unix server market with 27.5 percent share in factory revenue.

According to the IDC Asia/Pacific Quarterly Disk Storage Systems Tracker Q1 2007 report, HP has maintained its market lead in terms of total capacity shipped in the external disk storage market, registering 18.2 percent share of the market and a year-on-year growth of 42.4 percent in the region.

In addition, HP took the leading position in the x86 blade server market in Asia Pacific in the first quarter of 2007 capturing 35.7 percent factory revenue share and 40.4 percent unit shipment share. The company registered a 103.6 percent year-on-year growth in unit shipments and garnered more than 12 percentage points lead over its closest competitor in Q1 2007.
