ARMONK, NY - 29 Aug 2007: IBM (NYSE: IBM) today introduced a new version of the breakthrough computing system based on the Cell Broadband Engine (Cell/B.E.) — the IBM BladeCenter® QS21 — that delivers twice the memory, density and I/O throughput as well as enhances power efficiency and the ability to work with existing IT infrastructure for both current and new customers. Also announced today is the IBM Software Development Kit (SDK) for Multicore Acceleration Version 3.0 — the cornerstone of the Cell/B.E. software ecosystem and developer enablement program.

ARMONK, NY & SANTA CLARA, CA - 16 Aug 2007: IBM (NYSE: IBM) and Sun (Nasdaq: SUNW) today announced that IBM will distribute the Solaris(TM) Operating System (OS) and Solaris Subscriptions for select x86-based IBM System x servers and BladeCenter servers to clients through IBM’s routes to market.
The agreement announced today is an extension of IBM’s existing support for the Solaris OS on select IBM BladeCenter servers, and exemplifies IBM’s commitment to offering clients the widest choice of operating systems available in the industry, as well as Sun’s commitment to offer customers a wider choice of systems for the Solaris platform. IBM and Sun’s support of interoperability via open standards also means that customers will be able to extend their infrastructure by connecting new platforms easily, while preserving their initial investments.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - 07 Aug 2007: At LinuxWorld here today, IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced that dozens of customers - including Volkswagen AG and Telefonica Moviles - have recently selected Linux on POWER for consolidating their UNIX and x86 workloads to IBM’s System p servers as they seek to maximize their IT investments and become more energy efficient. When combined with those customers migrating from competitive platforms to IBM’s AIX UNIX operating system on System p, the migrations to Linux on POWER are part of a broader overall increase in adoption of System p servers that bring the total migrations to more than 700 since the start of 2006, including over 250 this year alone.
