(NASDAQ: JAVA) today introduced its first quad-core x64 (x86, 64-bit) systems, including the world’s smallest four-socket x64 server - which delivers up to twice the expandability and compute power as other servers, yet is half the size. The Sun Fire X4450 and Sun Fire X4150 servers, powered by Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors, enable customers to solve critical problems in the datacenter by offering more performance, higher density, and better power efficiency than competitive systems in the market today. Both servers also give customers a choice of operating systems, running the Solaris Operating System (OS), Windows, Linux or VMware, with the flexibility to deploy a broad range of applications.

San Francisco, Sept. 18, 2007: Intel Corporation President and CEO Paul Otellini today outlined new products, chip designs and manufacturing technologies that will enable the company to continue its quickened pace of product and technology leadership.

Speaking to industry leaders, developers and industry watchers at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF), Otellini showed the industry’s first working chips built using 32 nanometer (nm) technology, with transistors so small that more than 4 million of them could fit on the period at the end of this sentence. Intel’s 32nm process technology is on track to begin production in 2009.

(NASDAQ: JAVA) today announced a definitive agreement pursuant to which Sun will acquire the majority of Cluster File Systems, Inc.’s intellectual property and business assets, including the Lustre File System. By acquiring Cluster File Systems, Inc., the leading parallel file system provider, Sun intends to add support for Solaris Operating System (Solaris OS) on Lustre and plans to continue enhancing Lustre on Linux and Solaris OS across multi vendor hardware platforms. As previously announced in July 2007, Sun also plans to deliver Lustre servers on top of Sun’s industry-leading open source Solaris ZFS solution, which is one of the fastest growing storage virtualization technology in the marketplace.

PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept. 10, 2007: Targeted at enterprise customers, the ProCurve Switch 8212zl completes ProCurve’s core-to-edge network solution that unifies network technology, infrastructure, software, operation, management and support while reducing complexity and lowering costs. The switch is based on HP-developed ProVision ASIC technology.

Also announced today, the ProCurve Wireless Edge Services zl Module adds centralized wireless local area network (WLAN) configuration, management and advanced wireless services to the 8212zl core switch and 5400zl edge switch family.
